1:30 p.m. - Coach transfer to Battle Abbey and town, stopping at Pevensey Castle en route

11:00 a.m. - Visit to St. Thomas Pilgrim Hospital (leaving directly from lecture room)

Lunch on own

2:00 p.m. - Visit to the 'Big Dig' excavation in the city of Canterbury and talk by Mr Paul Bennett, Director of the Canterbury Archaeological Trust

5:00 p.m. - Orchard Room, County Hotel - Lecture: "The idea of pilgrimage in medieval Canterbury", by Dr Diana Webb, King's College, London

6:30 p.m - Dinner at hotel

May 22nd

8:00 a.m. - Breakfast

9:15 a.m. - Visit to St Martin's Church and  St. Augustine's Abbey

Lunch on own

2:15 p.m. - Meet at Cathedral Gate for 2:30 tour of Christ Church Cathedral by Official Cathedral guides

5:30 p.m. - Choral Evensong in Cathedral choir (optional)

6:30 p.m. - Dinner in hotel, evening free

Overnight at the hotel.

 

May 23rd

8:00 a.m. - Breakfast

morning - free time (if you wish attend a church service, the main service at Canterbury Cathedral is at 11:00 a.m. a.m.)

Lunch on own.

1:00 p.m. - Coach transfer to town of Sandwich, stopping briefly at Barfrestone Church, Kent

2:30 p.m. - Visit St Bartholomew's Hospital/Almshouse, tour by Mr Smoker, Master of the Hospital, followed by brief walking tour of Sandwich by Mr Tony Wiggins, followed by free time - grab tea or a Sandwich in Sandwich.

5:00 p.m. - Coach transfer to hotel

6:30 p.m. - Dinner at hotel

Overnight at the hotel.

 

May 24th

8:00 a.m. - Breakfast

Check-out of hotel.

10:00 a.m. - Coach transfer from the hotel to the London Heathrow Airport (Terminal 3) for return flight to Toronto.
